octenilin now listed in NHS Supply Chain Catalogue

27/01/2010
schülke has just announced that octenilin® Wound Irrigation Solution and octenilin® Wound Gel will be listed for purchase in the NHS Supply Chain Catalogue and online through NHS-Cat. The order codes are MRB 487 for octenilin® Wound Gel and MRB 443 for octenilin® Wound Irrigation Solution.
The new listing has been due to demand from hospitals and Trusts using octenilin® who want to make the ordering process simpler. It will also benefit those Trusts who have until now been unable to purchase Octenilin because it was not listed with the NHS Supply Chain Catalogue.
Both products contain octenidine – a unique, innovative antimicrobial ingredient which has a broad antimicrobial effect, including multiresistant strains and shows very good skin and mucous membrane tolerability. They can be used to treat burns, pressure sores, leg ulcers and any type of skin wound. Octenidine is already currently used in the UK in Octenisan® antimicrobial Wash Lotion.
Results from a recent Care Home evaluation of Octenilin Wound Irrigation Solution and Wound Gel has showed that over 70% of nurses felt that Octenilin reduced the need for antibiotics due to “providing the ideal moist healing environment and good antibacterial activity”.
Octenilin Wound Gel is available as a multi use 20g presentation (with a 6 week shelf life after opening) and Octenilin Wound Irrigation Solution is presented as a 350ml solution with an 8 week shelf life after opening.
